Pricing.
Firstly, yes, you can buy a gate from B&Q for £59.95 and we won't be offended if you go and buy one. We will however be offended if you try to suggest we can make you one for the same sort of money. Our fabrications use a minimum steel thickness of 5mm and will hurt you if you drop them on your toe. By definition they're each unique, have no spot welding and are substantially heavier than the mass produced norm. Our items are manufactured to a standard and that standard dictates the price.
We're not afraid to give some guide prices so here we go: Fences & railings less than 1000mm high are typically between £50 - £120 per metre. Fences & railings more than 1000mm high are typically between £70 - £150 per metre. Prices are very dependant on the prevailing cost of steel and the complexity of the design.
Our philosophy is straightforward, we charge a small percentage on the cost of the steel to cover consumables and then apply a labour rate to cover surveys, welding, painting and installation. Therefore heavier steel sections don't cause much of an increase in cost of finished items but the amount of fabrication does. A simple 1000mm high fence panel is therefore not twice the price of a 500mm one of the same design.
To complete the work, High Build Vinyl paintwork is £15 per square metre, if you fancy having your work powder coated we suggest you budget £25 per square metre and if you desire the long-term protection of galvanizing we would suggest you budget £1 per kilogram of finished work.
